Veteran actor Kasbian dies 73

TEHRAN – Veteran actor Hossein Kasbian died in Tehran on Thursday. He was 73.

Kasbian, who acted in many traditional Iranian plays and films, had been hospitalized but died at his home shortly after being discharged from the hospital.

Kasbian was born in 1933 in Tehran. In 1956, he began his activities at the Anahita Theater troupe, which was founded by the late Mostafa Oskuii. He worked as a film dubber and then began acting in 1972.

He acted in many movies such as “A House on Water”, “Mother”, “Grandfather”, “Red Wind”, “Stranger”, “Scarecrow”, and “Like Wind”, as well as the TV series “Sultan and the Shepherd” and “Beautiful Barbershop”.

Kasbian was honored for his lifetime activities as a thespian at the 24th Fajr Theater Festival in early 2006.

His funeral procession will start on Sunday at the Iranian Artists Forum, which is located on Musavi St., off of Taleqani Ave.
